The location of Hotel i31 is great. Located between the Naturkundemuseum (U-bahn + tram) and Nordbahnhof (S-bahn) both stations are about 5 minutes away and very convenient. Round the corner of Eichendorffstrasse is a small cafe called Oslo Kaffebar where they serve decent coffee, and round the corner to the north on Chausseestrasse is a kebab shop that opens till after 23:00. If you are looking to dine at good restaurants, Rutz Restaurant und Weinbar and Restaurant reinstoff are nearby. The hauptbahnhof is only 2 tram stops away to the south.
The room itself is decent sized and comfortable, with a small writing desk in the corner. The design of the shower, however, was all about aesthetics and not function. The shower area had a door-less and curtain-less opening and no matter how careful you shower, the floor of the bathroom will be wet when you’re done. A minor annoyance.
The room was in general clean and well maintained, except for the slightly forgetful cleaning staff who only replace our face towels half of the times, as in 50% of the times the used face towels were taken away but no new ones were provided. There was also a time when one of the towels was hung on the wall when we came back to the room, with no way of telling whether that was a fresh towel (we left both on the floor). That said, as we stayed for 8 nights, some hiccups here and there was tolerable.
The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The night shift guy has introduced us to the Kebab shop when we came back too late for dinner.
Despite the slight problems we encountered, we enjoyed out stay here and would definitely recommend Hotel i31.
