The best thing about Hotel Sonne is its location – only a few minutes walk with luggages from the train station. Despite the normal (and perhaps slightly boring) façade of the building, this is one quirky hotel.
The front desk was small, as was the hotel bar which is located to the right of the front desk and features an assortment of mediocre generic cocktails, and beer, which we should have ordered. The hotel itself, however, was bigger than expected, and connects a few of the buildings.
Some of the rooms are “themed”, including the room we stayed in. Unfortunately it was rather cold during our stay and we didn’t had much chance to use the balcony.
The room card was attached to a neat sheet of information regarding both the hotel and the town. Schedules of the bus to the neuschwanstein / hohenschwangau ticket office are available at the front desk.
Laundry facilities are available in the basement, in a small room on the way to the carpark.
