Park Plaza is right behind the similarly named (in Chinese) but pricier Regent hotel. The entrance is off the main Jinbao street and rather secluded, but taxis found the place without much problem.
Whilst I found the hotel restaurant “Bloo Dining” to be mediocre, there are a few nice restaurants nearby – Dadong Roast Duck at Jinbaohui mall, Lei Garden at Jinbao Tower next door (their HK branches are Michelin starred, but not sure about this one) and Morton’s Steak House at Regent Hotel. A leisurely walk to Wangfujing and the malls would be roughly 10 minutes.
The rooms were fine. The beds were sufficiently firm and well set up. The work desk was sufficient in size and the room felt clean. Disposable slippers are provided.
The bathroom, whilst rather basic in design, was sufficient and clean. Hot water took a few seconds but has been stable throughout my stay. The hairdryer was very strong.
It didn’t feel like there were many staff around, but service was always quick. The room cleaner guy was very courteous and efficient, as were the front desk staff.
The only possible complaint may be that the corridors felt slightly aged and the rooms were slightly on the small side. At this price, however, there really isn’t any problem with these.
I will surely be staying at Park Plaza Wangfujing Hotel again next time!
