Due to work schedules, I have to visit Beijing rather regularly, and often have to stay at Grand Hyatt Beijing for various reasons. It has it merits and is a good hotel, but its age shows. Located atop Xintiandi right next to Huangfujing, the hotel is adjacent to two subway stations, both within 5 minutes walk indoors via the Xintiandi mall. Other than subway you’ll most likely be travelling via taxi anyway, so transportation is generally not an issue.
For those who like to shop, it is sufficiently close to the Huangfujing shopping street. The food at the hotel is generally acceptable. The buffet is reasonably good and so is the Italian restaurant. The staff are friendly and helpful. For the room, every time I visit it is generally clean and tidy, and the bed comfortable. The standard room is also rather large. That said, everything feels somewhat old – the decor, the furnitures, the shower head. I thought they might have renovated the bathroom as the shower worked better this January, but it is more likely that they changed the shower head only… It’s probably about time for them to renovate!
